March 2002: Deutsche See Holding GmbH, secondary buyout/ growth financing
In March 2002, BERENBERG Private Equity Beteiligungs KG (GmbH & Co.), together with Niantic Trading Amsterdam B.V., the management of Deutsche See Beteiligungs-GmbH and the Schleswig-Holsteinische Kapital-Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH acquired Deutsche See Beteiligungs-GmbH, Hamburg, via the newly-founded Deutsche See Holding GmbH, Hamburg, as part of a secondary buyout with growth financing. The Deutsche See Group is a national leading distributor of fish and seafood. In addition, delicatessen products and complementary products such as poultry, meat, game, fruit and vegetables are also sold. The products are supplied to hotels, catering and institutional foodservices as well as food retailers. The major success factors of the Deutsche See Group exist in procurement, manufacture/ refinement (3 plants) and logistics/ distribution, as well as sales (26 branches in Germany). Currently Deutsche See employs approximately 1,500 staff.
November 2003: Beeck Feinkost, add-on
In November 2003, Deutsche See Holding GmbH carried out a strategic acquisition. The salad bar specialist subsidiary Beeck Feinkost was bought from its parent, Beeck-Homann GmbH & Co. KG.
