Moritz Diekgräf, born and raised in Hamburg, studied law at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg as well as at the University of Pennsylvania. After his doctoral thesis, he successfully completed his legal clerkship at the Hamburg Higher Regional Court, including stations at Latham & Watkins in Hamburg und Hongkong. Mid 2018 he completed a master’s degree at the University of Oxford with a focus on corporate finance (MSc in Law and Finance).
Before joining BPE as an Investment Manager, Moritz Diekgräf worked as a lawyer (senior associate) at YPOG (formerly SMP Schnittker Möllmann Partners), where he was a member of the practice group “transactions” specialising in private equity and venture capital. As an associate at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer he concentrated on capital markets law and M&A.
During his legal qualification, he gained first professional experience during several internships, i.a. at HSH Nordbank (today Hamburg Commercial Bank), at Rittstieg Rechtsanwälte (today Gleiss Lutz) and at Notare am Alstertor.

Stephan Gummert, born in Hamburg, completed his military service in Neumünster and at the University of the Federal Armed Forces after graduating from secondary school. After an apprenticeship as a banker, he studied business administration at the University of Hamburg, accompanied by several internships, including Deutsche Bank Sydney, Gellert Wirtschaftsprüfung as well as Chair of Auditing and Taxation under Prof. Lothar Haberstock.
After graduating with a degree in business administration, Stephan Gummert initially joined KPMG Hamburg as a management consultant, before moving to the corporate finance department in 1997. In 2001, Stephan Gummert joined Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, where he worked as Senior Project Manager in the area of restructuring and corporate finance until 2005. Here, he managed various M&A transactions and restructuring projects for both ”Mittelstand” companies and large international corporations.
Stephan Gummert joined the BPE team in December 2005 and was appointed partner in May 2008.

Katrin Hensel, a native of Hanover, completed an apprenticeship as a European secretary/economic assistant after graduating from secondary school.
She then went to Paris as a “fille au-pair” for one year. In 1988 – after gaining initial professional experience and having studied two semesters of Romance languages and English at the University of Hanover – she decided to move back to France to work as a board secretary at Metaleurop S.A., a Franco-German company in the metallurgy sector.
In 1992 she returned to Germany/Hamburg. She then worked in the media/agency sector, including as assistant to the chief editor of the Financial Times Germany and at YACHT, a well-known sailing magazine. Afterwards, she moved to Egon Zehnder International GmbH as an assistant to a company partner.
Her last position was Personal Assistant to the CEO of the sports marketing agency Sportfive in Hamburg and Zurich before joining BPE in January 2010.

After training as a European management assistant and having completed an internship at Hauser S.à.r.l., Paris, she worked for a subsidiary of the Krupp Group for a short time before moving to the Executive Board Secretariat of Phoenix AG, Hamburg-Harburg. There she initially worked for the Executive Board for the Finance, Purchasing, Data Processing, Insurance and Plastics divisions, before she headed the secretariat of the Chairman of the Executive Board and Labour Director for six years.
She then worked as an assistant to a partner at Egon Zehnder International GmbH for four years. The focus here was on Executive Search and Management Appraisal in the Industrial as well as Legal, Regulatory & Compliance Practice Group.
At L. Possehl & Co. mbH, she again worked for the Chairman of the Executive Board as well as for the Head of Human Resources, Real Estate and Corporate Communications. She has been with BPE since October 2008.

Nikolai Mackscheidt, born in Cologne, studied business administration at the University of Siegen and completed a second degree in cultural management at the University of Music and Theatre, Hamburg.
After completing his studies, Nikolai Mackscheidt initially worked at CULTURPLAN Unternehmensberatung, Krefeld, for a period of four years in the field of restructurings projects for publicly funded cultural institutions, most recently as Junior Partner.
He then moved to Ernst & Young AG, Wirtschaftsprüfungs- und Steuerberatungsgesellschaft, where he was part of the Transaction Advisory Services/Corporate Restructuring team. Here he carried out reorganisation and restructuring projects for a predominantly ”Mittelstand” client base.
At the beginning of 2006, Nikolai Mackscheidt joined Strategic Value Partners, Germany, an American financial investor with approx. USD 6 billion assets under management. At Strategic Value Partners Nikolai Mackscheidt was part of the operational restructuring team. In this function, Nikolai Mackscheidt led operational and financial restructurings, served on advisory boards and as interim CFO in portfolio companies of Strategic Value Partners.
In June 2008, Nikolai Mackscheidt joined the BPE team as investment manager and was appointed partner in February 2016.

Aman Miran Khan was born and raised in Spain.
After completing his German Abitur at the Louisenlund Boarding School Foundation, he worked in the family business. He subsequently studied business administration in Hamburg, before starting his professional career at the Treuhandanstalt in Berlin.
After one year as a privatisation manager, he became self-employed in order to be able to carry out other projects (e.g. consulting for the EBRD for a privatisation project in Poland) in addition to his consulting work for the Treuhandanstalt.
In 1994, Aman Miran Khan joined Berenberg Consult G.m.b.H. – Corporate Finance –, the subsidiary of the BERENBERG BANK, founded in 1973 and specialising in M&A transactions. For roughly three years he was in charge of various mandates, mainly focusing on succession planning and corporate spin-offs.
In January 1997, he joined 3i Deutschland Gesellschaft für Industriebeteiligungen mbH, Frankfurt/Hamburg to set up their Hamburg office.
In 1998, Aman Miran Khan took up the position of founding partner and managing director of BPE in order to set up Private Equity activities for the BERENBERG BANK. In 2000, he initiated the Management Buy-out of BPE together with the former partner, Dr. Andreas M. Odefey.

Raphael Nitz, born in Stuttgart, studied “Technology and Management-oriented Business Administration” with a focus on Mechanical Engineering and Finance & Accounting (BSc) at the Technical University of Munich. He then went to the Copenhagen Business School to complete a Master’s in Finance & Strategic Management (MSc) in 2016.
Before joining BPE, Raphael Nitz gained professional experience in manufacturing companies as well as in the areas of strategy consulting and private equity. He was involved in the development and implementation of a new production system for an international automotive supplier for Porsche Consulting. Furthermore, he was involved in acquisition projects of several ”Mittelstand” companies at Deutsche Beteiligungs AG.

Vissing, born and raised in Bremen, initially completed his military service before studying “Technology and Management-oriented Business Administration” in Munich in 2010 with focus on Mechanical Engineering and Supply Chain Management (BSc) as well as Finance and Mechanical Engineering (MSc).

Nikolaus Winther, born in Bremen, initially completed his military service and subsequently studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen, majoring in accounting, controlling and finance. After several study-related jobs and internships, among others at Daimler AG, Deutsche Bank AG and Monitor Group, he started his professional career at Lehman Brothers in investment banking after graduation.
Here he worked in London in the area of Equity Capital Markets (ECM), facilitating IPOs and the financing of German companies via the capital market. However, he also structured hedging and sales transactions for corporate clients and high net worth individuals within the Equity Derivatives team. In his third year, he moved to Frankfurt within the Lehman Brothers investment bank to gain experience in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A).
In September 2008, Nikolaus Winther started as an investment manager at BPE and was appointed partner in February 2016.
